A three-year partnership between the Noor Dubai Foundation, the Choithram International Foundation, and Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Health to expand access to quality cataract care and reduce avoidable blindness. The programme combines community-based screening, free cataract surgery, patient support and follow-up with local ophthalmic capacity building, while research and evaluation help strengthen sustainability and long-term impact. This programme also demonstrates the importance of a positive global eye health philanthropy model that strengthens health systems and learns lessons from each implementation cycle to help further improve quality and sustainability while ensuring local integration in the Sierra Leone health system.
